FAQs Beaulieu Healthcare Centre

We’re delighted to announce that we will soon be opening a new branch surgery in the heart of the Beaulieu Park estate north of Chelmsford.

Our new branch surgery will be the Beaulieu Healthcare Centre, a new-build healthcare centre located in Beaulieu Square, which has been designed to meet the needs of modern clinical care. The new space will give our practice additional clinical rooms, providing more capacity for our patients to access services from our team of dedicated healthcare professionals.

We look forward to welcoming our current patients at the new site later in 2025 for pre-booked appointments only. Please note you will not be able to walk-in and book appointments at our new site.

In the meantime, there will be no changes to how you access services at North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre. In the short term our clinical team will be working across both sites so you will still see the same familiar clinicians you know whether you are offered an appointment at North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre or Beaulieu Healthcare Centre.

With our new branch surgery, we also have plans to grow our clinical team so that we can offer even more services for our valued patients.

How to access Beaulieu Healthcare Centre

Our new branch is located about one mile from the North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre at Beaulieu Healthcare Centre, Centenary Way, Chelmsford, CM1 6AU.

This is around seven minutes away from our current surgery by car or a 20-25 minute walk. There are several frequent bus services that stop at Beaulieu Square from Chelmsford City Centre. From North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre, the number 47 bus takes around 13 minutes (includes a six-minute walk) and runs hourly.

What the new branch will offer

  • Clinical appointments with clinical staff from North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre
  • Over time, additional appointments and services will become available as we expand our workforce
  • Greater variety of health professionals working with us as part of the offer from Chelmer Primary Care Network
  • We will be offering more GP trainee placements to develop training and encourage more practitioners to the area
  • Additional consulting rooms
  • Two virtual consulting rooms for telephone calls and an interview room
  • A fresh, modern reception and waiting area
  • New patients are now able to register through North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre via How to register – North Chelmsford NHS Healthcare Centre

How to book appointments at the new branch

For now, registered patients can book appointments in the usual way by filing in a triage form available on our main surgery’s website. Patients will receive a same day outcome which may be self help advice, signposting or, if clinically necessary, a telephone or face to face appointment. These will be offered on the same day, or within 3 or 7 days, depending on urgency.

If there is an opportunity to book an appointment at the new branch surgery, we will let you know when you contact us.

Reasons for opening a new branch

28. Why did the practice decide to open a new branch?

A: The North Chelmsford area is growing quickly, with lots of new homes being built. To provide GP services to this growing population, we need more clinical space to be able to respond to increased demand for local healthcare services. The extra space will allow us to offer more appointments and services to our existing patients while also allowing us to serve the growing population in Beaulieu. It will also allow us to increase the number of healthcare staff, including nurses, which will improve patient access to nurse-led services such as vaccinations, clinics, screenings, etc.

29.   Why at Beaulieu Park?

A: A new health facility was built as part of the residential development in Beaulieu. A new facility was ideal for us as we were seeking to expand our clinical capacity. So, we participated in the official procurement process that NHS Mid and South Essex ICB undertook to find a local primary care provider to take on the new building. We were delighted to be successful in our application and to have this opportunity to grow and expand our services for the local community.

30. Were there any other options for expanding services?

A: The Beaulieu Healthcare Centre meets all the needs of the surgery to provide services in the North Chelmsford area. No other option could provide the facilities to meet local healthcare needs while also being cost effective.

Feedback

31. Can I provide feedback or suggestions about the new branch?
